We Have Had Enough
Local residents have had it with high property taxes on Long Island and they're not going to take it anymore. Outside of the Nassau County building at One West Street, which houses the county executive and county legislature offices, local residents including those from Elmont and Franklin Square staged a protest. Their message is a simple one - property taxes are too high and they can't afford to pay any further increases.
Town Honors Residents Who Make a Difference
Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray and the town board recognized 13 extraordinary community members for contributions to their local neighborhoods at the Eighth Annual "Make A Difference" Awards ceremony. In addition, the town board posthumously honored a woman who dedicated herself to volunteer work, all the while battling cancer. Her husband was on hand to accept the award on his wife's behalf.
