Since he announced he would reassess four known dwellings in Nassau County as commercial properties, Nassau County Assessor Harvey Levinson has been a popular man. Time will tell if his plan will stand up to an appeal. However, Levinson's campaign may have raised public awareness even further to the problem of illegal housing.
Ciotti, Muscarella Approve Environmental Referendum for November Ballot
Nassau County Legislators John Ciotti (R-North Valley Stream) and Vincent Muscarella (R-West Hempstead) sponsored and approved a $50 million referendum aimed at saving the last remaining open spaces and preserving Nassau County's parklands. The legislature's unanimous approval means that the referendum will be placed on the ballot for consideration during the Nov. 2 elections.
