The Franklin Square and Munson Fire Department honored longtime member and ex-Chief Michael Zerucha with a celebration on Saturday, March 27 at the firehouse. The department will be commemorating 72 years of service by ex-Chief Zerucha, who was sworn into the ranks of the Franklin Hook & Ladder Company Incorporated on Nov. 7, 1932.

In his 72 years with the department, Mr. Zerucha has held many hats. From the time he joined the department, he worked his way up through the ranks. In 1937, he was elected captain and from 1937 to 1938, he was elected department secretary. During that time, he also served as the chairman of the department's fund-raising committee.
