History will be made at the Emanuel Baptist Church of Elmont this Sunday when the Laymen's League of the church celebrates its 34th anniversary. An out of the region layman, in the person of Deacon Stanfort J. Perry from Syracuse, New York, will be the guest speaker. He will be making his first appearance in this area.

Beginning promptly at 4 p.m., the members of the Emanuel Baptist Church and their many friends and supporters, will gather to hear Deacon Perry give his address. He will speak on the theme, "Men Building God's Kingdom," based on Proverbs, the 24th chapter and verse 27.

Deacon Perry is endowed with a number of impressive credentials. He serves on the Dean's Ministry at the New Morning Star Baptist Church of Syracuse, where his duties entail director of the Junior Laymen Department of that church as well as serving as an assistant Sunday school teacher.

Currently serving as president of the Empire Baptist Laymen's Auxiliary to the Empire Baptist Missionary Convention of New York Incorporated, his territorial responsibility covers the entire State of New York, from Montauk Point on LI to Niagara Falls. Deacon Perry received his master's degree in management from Buffalo State College and he currently serves as the executive director of Arc, a self-help agency of Onondaga County, located in Syracuse. He is active on several boards of directors within the city and county and is involved in a variety of community endeavors.

Deacon Perry has received numerous awards and honors for his civic and religious contributions. He is an outstanding speaker. As a motivational speaker, he is in demand throughout the State of New York and adjacent regions. Those who will be privileged to hear him this Sunday afternoon at Emanuel will, without a doubt, be challenged.

He is married to Mrs. Daphne Perry and they are the proud parents of two wonderful children, Janna, age 7, and Chandler, age 2 1/2. Deacon Perry and his wife are active members of the Syracuse Chapter of Jack and Jill of America.

The men of Emanuel are going all out to make this 34th Laymen's League Anniversary the best ever. One of the highlights of the program will be a fifty-voice men's day choir. The entire community is invited as special guests. Come and bring your friends with you and especially the men with whom you associate. It is anticipated that the Emanuel Baptist Church will be filled to capacity on this occasion.
