The bus leaves Elmont at 8:30 a.m. and returns from NYC at 3:15 p.m. The price is $63. Registration begins Sept. 20 for ESD residents; Sept. 27 nonresidents. Career Counselors Darren and Keesha are available to help with your job search. Schedule an appointment with the Reference Dept. in person or by phone 354-5280, ext. 2. The counselors offer day and evening appointments. Walk-ins welcome. There is no fee for this service. An open meeting for all caregivers led by Beatrice Nechin, BSSW. Sponsored by the NC Dept. of Senior Citizen Affairs. 1 p.m. Bring a brown bag lunch. This is an ongoing program held on the second Tuesday of each month. All participants must arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of the program to insure a seat. People on the waiting list will be admitted to the program at 5 minutes prior to the program. Latecomers will not be admitted. Free English classes are being offered in cooperation with Nassau BOCES. Classes meet Monday, Tuesday and Thursday each week from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. through June. English for New Americans is for beginning adults who have not attended school in the US. Registration is ongoing. New students welcome at any time. Nassau BOCES Adult Learning Center has developed a free program designed to help families improve their English language skills and learn about their community and country. Aimed at parents/caregivers and their children ages 6 to 9, the Family Literacy and Civics Program is held at the library every Monday from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Join the knowledgeable BOCES staff and share this interactive educational experience as a family. Come for this program led by Beatrice Nechin of the NC Dept. of Senior Citizen Affairs. This program is for grandparents involved in their grandchildren's lives or not involved in their grandchildren's lives, grandparents raising their grandchildren or seeking the rights to have their grandchildren in their lives. Coffee and cookies served. The program is ongoing and held on the last Friday of each month at 10:30 a.m. Call 571-5814. June Friedel, RN, will help identify problems associated with blood pressure, weight control and medication monitoring. She will be available to answer individual questions and for one-on-one counseling. This is an ongoing program held the second Tuesday of each month.

*Ballroom Dancing Class led by Ronald Gates. Coffee and cookies served. All NC seniors welcome. The program is ongoing and held on the second Friday of each month at 10 a.m.

*Nutrition Education Class taught by Shari Hamburg, RD. 10 a.m. The class will be ongoing and held the second Thursday of each month. Coordinated by Beatrice Nechin. Call 571-5814.

*Senior Yoga Class coordinated by Beatrice Nechin, the class will be led by Evelyn Connell from 10 to 11 a.m. on the third Friday of each month. Coffee and cookies will be served. For registration call the NC Dept. of Senior Citizen Affairs 571-5814.

*Tai Chi Ch'aun led by Bob Janowsky of Chen Dottie School of Tai Chi Ch'uan. The class is ongoing and will be held on the second Friday and fourth Thursday of each month at 10:30 a.m. Coffee and cookies will be served. Call 571-5814.

Under the direction of Denise T. Brosokas meets on the third Tuesday of every month to share ideas and offer support and guidance. Join the group at 7:30 p.m. and share your writing.
