The West Hempstead Kiwanis Club is planning its First Annual Charity Slow-Pitch Softball Tournament. The tournament is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 7, at the WH Middle School baseball fields. Proceeds will go toward the purchase of equipment for our local fire departments (Lakeview and West Hempstead) and toward the continuing efforts to maintain the September 11 Memorial at Hall's Pond Park.

Kiwanis is looking for teams consisting of firefighters, teachers, students, WH GALS players, WH Little League players, old-timers, youngsters (14 and up, please), and the like. Men's teams, ladies teams, church and synagogue teams, organization teams are encouraged to participate. Entrance fee is $100 per team. Each team member will receive a jersey and tickets for refreshments. A minimum of nine players and a maximum of 20 players per team, please.
