    From 8 a.m. through 5:14 p.m. on May 29, the Goldsteins' resolve to secure a win at the National Spelling Bee carried JJ Goldstein, the eighth-grader from West Hempstead, through a competitive spelling landscape that was wrought with arduous challenges like inosculate, novercal, detritus, curarize, olibanum, klendusity, arundinaceous, rangiferine, and certiorari.     Cheers went up in the Elmont School District's central administration office building Tuesday night when it became official that the Elmont School District proposed budget for the 2003-2004 school year had been approved by voters. FULL STORY

  • Sports: Elmont North Little League Report

    An outstanding 13 strikeout 3-hit performance by Rocco Bevilacqua led EETA to their fifth win of the season. Vinny Battisti helped EETA by going 1-1 with two walks. Catcher, Charlie Mills, had another solid game going 2-2 and throwing out two base runners. Daniel Golde of Spaienza had a very solid game at shortstop with nice plays, while also going 2-2 at bat.
