Residents of Elmont, Franklin Square and West Hempstead will be voting on Tuesday on school budgets and candidates for the boards of education.
In Elmont, residents will be voting on $50,523,292 budget for the Elmont School District that reflects a 7.9 percent increase over last year's budget. In addition, voters will be electing three members of the board of education.
Lorraine Ferrigno is running unopposed for the seat formerly belonging to Lillian Carillo. Incumbent Joy Madera is running for re-election against Patrick Nicolosi and incumbent Ken Williams is running for re-election against Sam Glaser.
The vote will take place from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. at your local elementary school.
Residents of Franklin Square will be voting on a $24,158,689 budget for the Franklin Square School District that reflects a 7.5 percent increase over last year's budget. In addition, voters will be electing two members of the board of education.
Board president Roger Roess is running for re-election. He will be running unopposed. Board vice president Audrey Hulsart is also running for re-election. She will be running unopposed.
The vote will take place at the John, Polk and Washington Street Schools from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Elmont and Franklin Square residents will also be voting on a proposed budget for the Sewanhaka Central High School of $109,478,175, an increase of 7.94 percent over last year's budget.
Residents of the West Hempstead School District will be voting on a $39,983,338 budget, an increase of 5.18 percent over last year's budget. Voters will be electing three members of the board of education.
Incumbent Carole Rilling is running for re-election against Walter Ejnes. Jerrold Kozensoff, Douglas Rodriguez, Scott Snyder and Doris Whelpley are running for the seat formerly belonging to Phil Frank and James Mariano is running for re-election unopposed.
In addition, West Hempstead voters will also be voting on a $9.975 million proposal to build a new West Hempstead library on the corner of Hempstead Avenue and Locust Street.
The vote will take place at the West Hempstead Middle School gymnasium from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
