Congresswoman, Carolyn McCarthy (NY-4) recently sent the following congratulatory letter to Gotham Avenue Elementary School for receiving The Business Council of New York State Pathfinder Award for Outstanding Education Improvement.
Congratulations to Gotham Avenue School on winning The Business Council of New York State Pathfinder Award for Outstanding Education Improvement. Unfortunately, I was unable to attend your award presentation ceremony.
What an honor! The business community rightfully recognized Gotham Avenue School for its noteworthy academic improvements in math and reading. Gotham Avenue School is one of only two schools honored in our region, and one of the total 24 chosen schools in New York State. The recognition and honor is truly extraordinary in light of the 2,900 New York State elementary schools eligible for the Pathfinder Award.
As a member of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce, and your Congresswoman, I understand our school's struggle for academic improvement in light of extenuating budget concerns. The remarkable progress Gotham Avenue School has shown is undoubtedly the result of a school-wide effort. The faculty, administration, student body and parents of students at Gotham Avenue School are the rightful recipients of the Pathfinder Award. Each should take individual pride in this honor.
Once again, I congratulate each member of the Gotham Avenue School educational community on this achievement. I look forward to hearing more about Gotham Avenue School and perhaps scheduling a visit in the near future.
