New WH Library Plan to Go Before Voters
Residents of West Hempstead voted against a referendum to build a new West Hempstead Public Library on the Western Beef property of Hempstead Avenue and Woodfield Road back in June 2001. The majority of voters felt the busy intersection was not conducive to a library. However, The West Hempstead Library Board feels the need for a modernized library has not gone away and therefore will put another referendum out for a vote on May 20.

Happy Ending to Dog Day Afternoon
The Town of Hempstead seized 21 dogs last week that were allegedly confined to a small room in a home on Daffodil Avenue in Franklin Square. The dogs, which ranged in age from 1 to 4-years-old, including three puppies, were said to be in unclean condition, strewn with feces, and neglected.
