Nassau County Police Department Fifth Squad detectives report the arrests of two Bronx men for robbery, burglary and assault. On Wednesday, Dec. 18, at approximately 3:50 p.m., two subjects, one armed with a handgun, attempted to force their way into an Elmont home, as the resident opened the door.
They grabbed the victim and pushed him into the foyer. A struggle ensued and the victim was struck in the head several times with a gun, causing lacerations and abrasions to the eye and face. The victim was finally able to break away and he ran from the house. He observed the two subjects running up the street. A passing Nassau County Police car, operated by Fifth Precinct Officer McMahon, was flagged down and informed of the situation. He saw the two subjects and chased after them, eventually catching up to the subject armed with the gun.
Officer McMahon apprehended the subject and placed him under arrest. The weapon was recovered. Police arrested Felix Garcia and Pedro Heureaux of the Bronx and charged them with Robbery 1st Degree, Burglary 1st Degree, Criminal Use of a Firearm 1st Degree, Assault 2nd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree.
The victim was transported by police ambulance to a local area hospital for treatment of injuries.
