This past Saturday, football season kicked off for teams in Elmont and Franklin Square, as the first annual jamboree attracted thousands from area communities to watch children from 9 - 12. Assemblyman Tom Alfano greeted the teams from the two communities as they took to the field. Some 1,000 parents and players from the west-end attended the first annual event, which served as a kickoff for each of the league's seasons. "It was a hot day on the field, but the players are showing their stuff and making some great hits and plays," said Alfano as he went from game to game. Coaches C.J. Williams, John Marco Militano, Tommy Nocella, Paulie Mccrae, T.J. Dangerfield, Mary Witter, David Dangerfield and coaches from throughout the leagues volunteer their time to this really worthwhile activity.
