Dribble, pass, kick...score! Boys and girls of all ages will return to Mitchell Athletic Complex on June 29-30 to put their skills to the test against other boys and girls at the annual got milk? 3v3 Soccer Shootout tour. Long Island-area soccer players will play for a chance to compete in the National Finals at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida.
Presented by America's Dairy Farmers and Milk Processors, the got milk? 3v3 Soccer Shootout is the official tour of Major League Soccer. The tour travels to over 65 cities from Los Angeles to New York City. Soccer Shootout is a weekend soccer festival open to players of all ages and skill levels, offering divisions for kids, teens, coed and players over age 30. Teams consist of five players (three players and two substitutes) and must register by Wednesday, June 19. Teams can register online at www.3v3soccer.net, or call 888-994-8082 to receive registration information. Registered teams are guaranteed three scheduled games with the entry fee of $110 per team.
"3v3 Soccer is a fast paced and high scoring game that players, coaches, and fans love. Coaches are committed to the game of 3v3 soccer because it develops players' soccer skills. The 2002 got milk? 3v3 Soccer Shootout tour should be the best competition ever, as last year we had 950 teams from 40 states compete at Nationals," said Dan Cramer, senior vice president of Host Communications. "We are excited about this year's event in Long Island and anticipate a competitive and fun tournament."
Play begins at 9 a.m. both days, continuing throughout the day. Games conclude at approximately 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Games consist of two, 12-minute halves with no goalies on a playing field that is 30x40 yards (20x30 for ages 6-8). In addition to the simultaneous tournament play all weekend, both players and spectators can take advantage of the special events at no added cost.
