Runners who will be competing in either the Canon Long Island Marathon or Canon Long Island Half Marathon this year are urged to attend a special pre-race clinic to be held at the Bethpage Public Library, on Powell Avenue in Bethpage, on Tuesday evening, April 30, starting promptly at 7:45 p.m. The clinic is being co-hosted by the Nassau County Department of Recreation, Parks and Support Services and the Greater Long Island Running Club.
The clinic will be a perfect last minute primer, not only for first time marathoners and half marathoners, but also for anyone else who is looking for some last minute help on how to run a little bit faster and feel a little bit better in the marathon or half marathon.
The distinguished panel of experts who will be on hand for the clinic, and to answer all your questions, includes John Hanc, Newsday running and fitness columnist and the author of The Essential Marathoner; Long Island Marathon Technical Director David Katz; Long Island Marathon Medical Director Dr. Edward Fryman; past Long Island Marathon winner Alex Cuozzo; Sports Physical Therapist Scott Belding, and 2000 and 2001 Long Island Marathon Women's winner Donna McMahon. The panel will be moderated by Greater Long Island Running Club President Mike Polansky.
The clinic is free. No advance registration is necessary.
