The tragic events of September 11th have impacted on West Hempstead High School's Class of 1969.
Ann Campana Judge was a well-known and well-liked member of our class. She married Geoff Judge and they lived in Virginia where Ann was head of the travel department at National Geographic Magazine. Unfortunately, she was a passenger on American flight 77 that struck the Pentagon. She was beginning a field trip to California with three teachers and three eleven-year old students. They were to participate in a marine research project. Her death has made a horrendous event even more heartbreaking.
Ann was a student in the West Hempstead school district from kindergarten through 12th grade and was a vital participant in many activities including Grade Council and Leader's Club. To show our support to her family and to honor the memory of our friend, members of the Class of '69 would like to establish a one-time scholarship in her name. It would be given through the West Hempstead Social Studies Department. The scholarship will be coordinated by Tom Kemnitzer, a social studies teacher in the West Hempstead Middle School.
Donations will be accepted from now through March, 2002. With the necessary support, the scholarship will be awarded in June, 2002. Your participation will help to turn a terrible tragedy into an act of hope. If you wish to make a donation please make a check payable to the Ann Campana
Judge Scholarship Fund, send a check or money order to Suzanne Bonne, 169 Oak Street, West Hempstead, NY 11552.
