Claflin Court in Franklin Square is like many other suburban streets on Long Island. Children come home from school and enjoy the afternoon air by breaking out their scooters, a combination bicycle and skate board.

POP Officers Issue Tickets for Selling to Minors
On Friday, Dec. 14, the Fifth Precinct Problem Oriented Policing Unit (POP) responded to information gathered from officers on patrol and complaints received from the community concerning stores selling alcohol to minors. Sgt. Edward Grim and the officers were able to visit several locations within the precinct using a volunteer under the age of 21. The officers issued tickets to the persons at the locations where proof of age was not asked for or checked by the clerk and/or beer or liquor was sold to an underage person.

Lady Spartans Capture Conference Championship
This season, the varsity volleyball team at Elmont was given little chance of making the playoffs. The team was too young, too inexperienced. That is, until playoff time rolled around and the Lady Spartans sat atop the standings in Conference III.
