The Franklin Square Jewish Center celebrated Chanukah with a Menorah Lighting Ceremony on Sunday, Dec. 9 at the Center.
As a part of the evening service, the first candles of the Chanukah Menorah were lit by the children who attended the service.
At the conclusion of the additional evening service in the sanctuary, those in attendance assembled in front of the Center for the outdoor Menorah Lighting Ceremony and the singing of Chanukah songs.
To complete the evening's festivities, everyone went back into the Center's Social Hall for traditional holiday food, which included potato latkes (pancakes) with applesauce and/or sour cream, donuts, coffee and tea.
The evening's service and celebration program was organized by Rabbi Stephen Dresner and Center Co-President Julius Rubin.
The evening's service and program was so successful that plans are now being made to make the outdoor Menorah lighting an annual event.
The Franklin Square Jewish Center extends its Best Wishes for a Happy Holiday Season to all residents of Franklin Square, of all faiths, for a Healthy, Happy and Peaceful New Year.
