It is appropriate that the Alden Manor Civic Association commend two elected officials for their action last spring in removing a longstanding blight on our community. For a number of months, AMCA had been asking NYSDOT to have an approximately three-acre site of state property adjacent to the Southern State Parkway cleaned up. Much construction debris and trash had been left at the site by a NYSDOT contractor. We made both County Legislator John J. Ciotti and Town Councilman Joseph J. Kearney aware of this issue shortly before the AMCA civic meeting of May 1. These two gentlemen personally visited the site prior to the May 1 meeting and then came to the May 1 meeting to advise our membership that the site would be cleaned up very shortly. The site was completely cleaned up and reseeded by NYSDOT by the end of May.

AMCA commends Mr. Ciotti and Mr. Kearney for their quick review of this issue and their immediate action toward resolving it.

Jaswick Williams

Chairman - AMCA
