DiNapoli and Suozzi Square Off in Another Debate
The battle of the Toms will come to its conclusion in less than two weeks when New York State Assemblyman Tom DiNapoli and Glen Cove Mayor Tom Suozzi square off in the Democratic primary for Nassau County Executive on Sept. 11. The winner will face Republican designee Bruce Bent in the general election Nov. 6 for the unenviable task of solving the hardships that have plagued the county.

Fighting the Nursing Shortage
New York State Assemblyman Tom Alfano joined with Assembly Minority Task Force Chairman Maureen O'Connell in announcing major health care recommendations in an effort to attract more people into the nursing profession. O'Connell, a registered nurse and ranking member of the Assemblyman Health Committee, made the announcement with Alfano at Winthrop-University Hospital. Surrounded by health care professionals, Alfano and O'Connell made the recommendations based on testimony and hearings held from around the state.

Tennis to Stop World Hunger
The weather is hot and so is the tennis! As professional tennis players take to the courts for the U.S. Open, recreational players across Long Island will take to the courts to participate in the "Stop World Hunger" Fall Tennis Tournament. The year 2001 marks the 21st year that the Stop World Hunger Tennis Tournaments have provided an opportunity to take part in no elimination, round-robin play for the benefit of those in greatest need.
