Kayak Adventures on Long Island
Here are two exciting and adventurous opportunities to try kayaking on friendly local waters. These river outings have you paddling into wildlife refuges for quick entry into a world of peace and beauty minutes from the congestion of Long Island. Starting in a freshwater ecosystem, you end up in a marine environment near the shoreline. Swans, herons, red-winged blackbirds, turtles, fish of all species, ospreys, hermit crabs, terns and gulls make very good companions. Classroom instruction addresses all the technical elements of the field trip - safety, equipment, personal needs, etc. As certified kayak instructors provide needed support throughout the day, the trips appeal to both veteran and novice kayakers. Please call Hofstra University's Continuing Education Department at 463-5016 for more information or to register.
