Independence Party Honors McCarthy, Dillon
It is fitting that at a time when violence in schools has captured the headlines, the Independence Party of Nassau County chose to honor individuals who have made significant contributions in preventing violence. For their efforts, Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy and Nassau County District Attorney Denis Dillon were given awards by the party for the promotion of nonviolence at a party fund raiser at Carltun on the Park earlier this week.

INN Good Friday Walkathon to Benefit Hungry Long Islanders
A 10-mile walkathon on Good Friday, April 13, will raise money for the Interfaith Nutrition Network (The INN) which operates 18 soup kitchens, four emergency shelters, and other housing programs for homeless individuals and families in Nassau and Suffolk. Participants in the walk, which will begin and end at Hofstra University, will seek sponsors to make tax-deductible contributions.
