On Feb. 12, The Woman's Club of Franklin Square called its meeting to order at 12:30 p.m. This took place at the VFW Hall on Lincoln Road. A Valentine's Day social followed the business meeting. Chair was Norma Snedeker.
On a sad note, we had a moment of silence for the passing of Mary Conti, a longtime member who had moved to Florida. Also, the sudden passing of Helen Schertzer, a dedicated member. The club is making a donation in Jo Schlosser's memory to the Franklin Square Historical Society building fund because this was Jo's dream.
Ann Puglist and Estelle Quednau took reservations for the St. Patrick's Day luncheon. It will take place on March 12. A catered corned beef and cabbage lunch here at the VFW Hall. Please get your check to Ann made out to The Woman's Club of Franklin Square. We will also have a musical program that day.
Please think about joining us on the Atlantic City bus trip to Show Boat on April 30. Edith Grant is taking reservations.
We reported on the library renovation progress and reminded them that the library budget vote will take place on April 3.
Three delegates will be attending the Long Island Federation of Women's Clubs conference on March 9. I will make a report on our club's yearly functions.
Many members are celebrating their birthdays in February, Emily VanDamm, Norma Snedeker, Estelle Quednau, Jean Boiko, Ina Brown and our founder Flo Carway. Flo is too ill to attend the meeting, but our thoughts are with her. Best wishes to all. We also welcomed a new member, Sheila Taaffe.
Thanks to Mickey Hesselbach, Joan Burger and Ina Brown who coordinated the dessert table. Our ladies outdid themselves with great tasting, inviting treats. Thanks to all!
See you on March 12!
