Balboni To Drivers: Hang Up
Compelled by increasing reports of roadway accidents and near-accidents attributed to the use of cellular phones, New York State Senator Michael Balboni has drafted legislation which would impose a statewide ban on driving while talking on a hand-held cell phone.

Alfano Calls Governor's Aid Package a Good Start
New York State Assemblyman Tom Alfano was pleased with what he termed "a great start" for Elmont and Franklin Square in its school aid package, unveiled in Albany this past week. According to Governor George Pataki's proposal, the Franklin Square School District would receive a record breaking amount of aid to the tune of $3.86 million, a $111,000 increase from last year. The Elmont Union Free School District would realize a $225,000 increase, raising its total to $12,496,000.

Nassau County Legislator John J. Ciotti (R-North Valley Stream) recently attended the Franklin Square Warriors Football Luncheon for the 2000 season. The Franklin Square Warriors had a great season and the staff and the team should be commended.
