I would like to publicly thank the hundreds of county employees who worked over the New Year's holiday weekend to alleviate the effects of the massive snowstorm.
Particularly since this storm occurred on the first day of a three-day holiday weekend, our residents were very concerned about their ability to travel the roadways safely. The employees who manned the plows and sanders as well as those who functioned in Emergency Management Operations and manned the telephones exhibited outstanding efforts on behalf of our residents in ensuring the quick and efficient removal of that snow from the county's roadways. While the county only controls the major roadways, we offered our assistance to those municipalities that were encountering problems in clearing secondary roadways under their control.
Although conditions were difficult, our county employees worked tirelessly to complete the job. The safety of our residents on county roads was assured because of their dedication. I would also like to thank our residents for their cooperation in removing their vehicles from the county roadways, where possible, to facilitate the removal of snow. I am very proud of our employees and most appreciative of the fine job they did under extraordinary circumstances.
