Oral History Initiative Honors Veterans
Honoring New York State's veteran population, the State Division of Military and Naval Affairs (DMNA) has initiated a program to record the personal histories of New York State veterans who served in the military during World War II. The DMNA will use state-of-the-art digital video technology to conduct and record interviews with veterans as well as convert existing video and audio footage of interviews compiled by outside sources into a digitized database available for military historians and social history researchers.

Town of Hempstead Deals With Snowstorm
In the waning hours of 2000, Long Islanders experienced the most significant snowfall in four years. On Saturday, Dec. 30, snow blanketed most of Long Island, accumulating in excess of ten inches. Three days after the storm, in a different year - 2001 - Town of Hempstead residents are still dealing with the snow. That's because some claimed their streets were not plowed, making for a messy situation.

High School Scholar-Athletes to be Honored for Excellence
The Nassau and Suffolk County chapters of the National Football Foundation will be honoring local high school scholar-athletes at their annual award ceremonies held at the world famous Downtown Athletic Club located at 19 West Street, New York. The Nassau County Chapter hosted their dinner/ceremony on Dec. 6.
