Uhl Elected West Hemsptead Water Commissioner
West Hempstead resident and environmental activist Michael Uhl believes that water is the most precious natural resource that is distributed. He, therefore, is concerned that it is not contaminated or polluted in any way. So what did he do to help ensure that the drinking water in West Hempstead stays safe? He ran for water commissioner of the West Hemsptead-Hempstead Gardens Water District.

Edward B. Ziskind, manager of integrated media at WLVI-TV (WB56), Boston's WB affiliate and Tribune Broadcasting station, has been named employee of the year. The award was announced by WB56 Vice President and General Manager Vincent Manzi.

High School Scholar-Athletes to be Honored for Excellence
The Nassau and Suffolk County chapters of the National Football Foundation will be honoring local high school scholar-athletes at their annual award ceremonies held at the world famous Downtown Athletic Club located at 19 West Street, New York. The Nassau County Chapter hosted their dinner/ceremony on Dec. 6.
