Banks Vows to Stay Involved
While most area incumbents will be returning to their seats in the New York State Senate, Assembly, and United States Congress following the Nov. 7 election, two incumbents who served on the Town of Hempstead this past year will not being returning. Democrats N. Scott Banks and Rita Kestenbaum will not be returning to the board following their losses to Republicans Joe Kearney and Angie Cullin respectively.

Alfano and West Hempstead Hebrew Academy Kick-Off "Witness for Tolerance Day"
Assemblyman Tom Alfano and the West Hempstead Hebrew Academy remembered the night of shattered glass -- Kristallnacht -- by assembling and discussing the importance of remembering the tragic event. The students of the fifth and sixth grades came together with Alfano to mark how these atrocities committed by the Nazis during World War II. In turn, the student body and Alfano pledged to always remember and never forget.

Public Skating at EAB Plaza Ice Rink
The DeMatteis Pavilion Ice Rink at EAB Plaza will open for public skating from Dec. 5 through March 2001 according to an announcement by Stephen Rutledge, EAB Plaza's general manager. EAB Plaza, located on Hempstead Turnpike in Uniondale, is a joint venture of The DeMatteis Organization and ABN-AMRO Bank, NV.
