The Franklin Elementary School in Hempstead is looking for a few good mentors. This fall, the school is seeking mentors for its after-school program for fourth, fifth and sixth grade students. The mentors will work with students requiring math and reading aid. Coordinator Cheryl Wardlow, who is president of the school's PTA, says the program, which runs from 3:30 to 6 p.m. five days a week, is flexible to accommodate the schedules of volunteers selected. For further information about participating in the mentor program, please call Cheryl Wardlow at 486-4960.
