Hillary Rodham Clinton, candidate for the United States Senate from New York, came to Long Island last week to meet with local village officials and local newspaper editors at Westbury Manor. Mrs. Clinton told the press that she was eager to discuss matters of importance to Long Islanders as well as general policies.

Alfano Supports World War II Memorial Project
Franklin Square residents are taking the opportunity to express their support for the new WWII memorial by making contributions to help build a memorial in Washington, D.C. Donators become Charter Members of the WWII Society and can have the name of a loved one placed in the Registry of Remembrances, which will list the names of individual Americans who participated in the war effort.

Hamlet Cup Tennis Aug. 19-27
The Hamlet Cup, the final ATP Tour stop before the U.S. Open, announced that its field would increase by 50 percent, from 32 to 48 competitors. The increased field means more big tennis names will be making the trip to Long Island Aug. 19-27 to compete for more prize money than ever before.
