Each year, the Town of Hempstead produces a beautiful four-color New Year's calendar, which is delivered to every resident of our township. The calendar, which utilizes corporate sponsorship to pay for printing and delivery, is special and unique because of resident participation in the publication. Town residents are asked to submit their own original photographs that best depict a seasonal Town of Hempstead event, park, circumstance, or other happening within our township.

This is our Fourth Annual Calendar Photograph Contest, whereby accredited judges will choose at least one photograph for each month of the year, and a few for positioning within the frontmatter and directory portion of the calendar.

The following criteria will apply to contest participants.

1) The contest is open to all TOH residents including town employees.

2) The final deadline for submitting up to five photographs is Sept. 15, 2000.

3) Slides, transparencies of copies or photographs may not be submitted. Only photographs in black and white or color (up to 8" x 10").

4) There will be at least 12 "winners" whose photos will appear on at least one month of the 2001 Town of Hempstead calendar.

5) All submitted photographs will be returned upon completion of the printing of the calendar.

6) All photographs must be accompanied by a descriptive paragraph indicating the name of the photographer, his or her address and phone number, the approximate date the picture was taken, the location of the scene, and the names of the individuals in the photograph. The photographer is responsible for the correct spelling of the names of the people in the photos as well as notifying them that their picture may appear in the Town of Hempstead 2001 calendar.

Remember, the deadline for submitting your pictures is Sept. 15. I urge all town residents to try their hand at capturing a scene of beauty or excitement in your own neighborhood, and submitting it to the photo contest.
