Hempstead Town Supervisor Rich Guardino has announced that a road resurfacing project is planned on Myrna Drive in West Hempstead. The project area will also include Lawrence Court.

According to Supervisor Guardino, the contract for this project has been awarded to Twin County Recycling Corp. The work will be commencing by the end of July. "The project will include the construction of new curbs, driveway aprons, installation of pedestrian access ramps at all intersections, new asphalt pavement, and the restoring of disturbed grass areas," Guardino said. The entire project is expected to take about one month.

"Homeowners in the project area have been notified about the details of this project by the Department of Engineering," according to Councilman Curtis E. Fisher. "Although the contract provides for maintaining access at all times, some traffic problems and driveway closures are unavoidable. We ask for patience, understanding and cooperation on the part of the West Hempstead community affected during the length of this project."

"I trust that the benefits and appearance of the completed project will more than offset any temporary inconvenience caused by the construction," Guardino concluded.
