The Class of 2000 will march across the commencement stage and into the new millennium in simultaneous graduation ceremonies at Valley Stream Central, North and South High Schools on Friday, June 23, at 5:30 p.m.

Valley Stream High School District Superintendent of Schools Dr. Martin Brooks, center, proudly congratulates Central, North and South valedictorians (l. - r.): Sittichai Vongprateep, Kristin Mannion and Cynthia Lee, and Central, North and South salutatorians Matthew Sklar, Adam Daniele and Peter Topis of the Class of 2000.

Salutatorians Matthew Sklar of Central, Adam Daniele of North, and Peter Topis of South High School will give the salutatory or welcoming speech to assembled guests.

Giving the traditional valedictory or farewell address at the three graduations will be valedictorians Sittichai Vongprateep, Kristin Mannion and Cynthia Lee of Central, North and South, respectively.

Also addressing their classmates will be the four members of the Senior Class Council at Central High School, Alexis Concepcion, Jamie Coyle, Rosemarie Marino and Hernan Morales, and senior class presidents Andrea Feldman of North High School and James DeLuca at South.

The Class of 2000 is the largest one in recent memory, with approximately 625 members. All are congratulated and wished a most happy and fulfilling future.

Boston University, Brown, Cornell, Georgetown, SUNY Stony Brook and the University of Pennsylvania are the college destinations of this year's six seniors in the prestigious position of ranking first and second in their graduating classes.

All six valedictorians and salutatorians have taken a rigorous academic schedule of eight to 11 college-level Advanced Placement courses in high school and have received AP Scholar or higher status. All have been inducted into multiple honor societies at their schools. And all, possessing wide talents and interests, have played active roles in their school's music, athletic, or other extracurricular and community service activities.

Central High School

Central High School valedictorian Sittichai Vongprateep of Elmont will be attending Cornell University's College of Engineering next fall with the career goal of becoming a mechanical or aerospace engineer. Always interested in space, science and computers, he is Web master of the school web site, a top Mathletes scorer, and attended Columbia's prestigious Science Honors Program.

Salutatorian Matthew Sklar of Valley Stream was accepted on early decisions to the University of Pennsylvania, where he is planning to major in artificial intelligence and then study law. He is president of Central's Computer Club, captain of the Quiz Bowl team, a party leader in Model Congress, a saxophone player in the band, and also attended the Columbia Science Honors Program.

North High School

Accepted to Boston University as a trustee scholar, North High School valedictorian Kristin Mannion of Malverne is undecided about her major but interested in the humanities, psychology and medicine. Co-captain of the varsity volleyball team, she also plays clarinet in the band, sings in the chorus, and performed in many North dramas and musicals.

Salutatorian Adam Daniele of Franklin Square plans to major in finance at Georgetown University, with a possible career in analytical finance or investment banking on Wall Street. A member of the varsity football and track teams and a section editor of the North Star newspaper, he also volunteered over 200 hours at Franklin General Hospital.

South High School

Brown University is the destination of South High School valedictorian Cynthia Lee of Valley Stream, who is undecided about her career plans but is considering medicine. She has volunteered at Franklin General and Winthrop University Hospitals, as well as the LI Humane Society; is skilled in the cello, having made the All-County Orchestra and the Long Island String Festival; and is co-captain of the tennis team, where she received All-

Division honors.

South salutatorian Peter Topis of Lynbrook will be attending SUNY Stony Brook, where he plans to major in computer engineering and eventually work in the computer industry. A member of the varsity volleyball and cross country track teams, he also has spent considerable time as a volunteer Sunday school teacher, a chemistry and math tutor, and has maintained after-school jobs.
