Carl F. Regelmann, an Eagle Scout with Troop 240 in West Hempstead was one of five recipients of the National Young American Award. The award, which includes an unrestricted cash grant of $5,000, was presented at the National Annual Meeting of the Boy Scouts in Nashville, Tennessee on May 25. The recipients excelled in the fields of community service and education, are involved in service, and maintain an above-average scholastic average.

Carl, besides his Scouting background, attends Cornell University where he is a member of the Big Red Marching Band and the Pep Band. While at West Hempstead High School, Carl was a member of the Student-Athletic Leadership Team. He was also a member of the school's band, jazz band, orchestra and pit orchestra. Carl was a member of the National Honor Society, and the National Music, Art, and Spanish Honor Societies. With all this Carl still had time to be active in his church and was treasurer of his church's youth group.

Besides earning the rank of Eagle (the highest achievement in Scouting), Carl was also the Lodge Chief for the Order of the Arrow (a national honor camper organization).

At Cornell, Carl is pursuing a degree in Economic and Business Management.
