Officials of the Sewanhaka Central High School District have announced that the 2000 Summer School Program will be held this year from July 5 through Aug. 15, with Regents testing on Aug. 16 and 17. All 9th through 12th academic, Regents and RCT review, physical education and special education classes will be offered at Sewanhaka High School, located at 500 Tulip Avenue, Floral Park. Driver Education will take place at Elmont Memorial High School, 555 Ridge Road, Elmont. All academic courses and special education classes for students in grades seven and eight will be held at Elmont Memorial High School. FULL STORY

Covert Avenue School took the State Capitol by storm this past week when 57 students, teachers and parents went to see Assemblyman Tom Alfano in Albany and participate in their first ever Town Hall meeting -- a first in New York's Capitol.
