The Woman's Club of Franklin Square met on May 8 at the VFW Hall on Lincoln Road for our annual report and planning meeting. Minutes were read by Lea Olynciw and Mickey Hesselbach, financial secretary read her report. Membership is now 57 members and seven new members this year. Emily Van Damm, treasurer read her report. We are solvent after presenting our six scholarship awards and our donation to mental health.
Volunteers were needed to chair next year's meeting and we were very fortunate to get responses.
Edith Grant reported on the Atlantic City bus trip in May. It was not a successful fund raiser but all had a good time.
Memorial Day Parade is May 29. Members who want to participate will meet at 9:30 at the VFW Hall. A few members will be there with our banner and those who cannot walk the parade have been offered rides with the Civilian Patrol or the parade Chairperson Bob DiNubila has graciously planned to get us rides. Thank you both.
Phyllis Bellero our dark horse raffle chairperson had three $5 winners and we had only one birthday to celebrate, Anna Re. We wish her a great year.
Eleanor Kaupp is chairing our Installation Luncheon on June 12 which will be held at Carmela's Restaurant. If you would like to attend please call Eleanor and send her a check for $22. Norma Snedeker will be the installing officer.
Jo Wood is making a tentative date for a Bavarian festival trip in October. It will be a full day of food and fun but we will need a commitment for a full bus. Please ask for particulars at the luncheon.
We adjourned the meeting for dessert, a social and a program. Mr. Harley, an agent with Allstate Insurance Co. presented a great program. He asked us all to go over our policies for car and home owners to make sure we are getting proper coverage. They should be checked and updated every few years. He answered many questions and discussed reasons why this is important. Mr. Harley was very patient and helpful with the questions. If he can be of help his office is on Nassau Blvd. in Garden City South. We thank him for this very informative talk.
Remember Flo Carway, our founder, in your prayers. We send her get well wishes. Till next month. Keep well.
