By Richard V. Guardino Jr., Supervisor Town of Hempstead
The Town of Hempstead is pleased to be hosting the New York Marine Trades Association In-Water Boat Show from April 27 through April 30. The show will be held at the Guy Lombardo Marina in Freeport. This show is exciting to us here in Hempstead Town, as it will help to encourage the development of the boating and marine accessories industry. Boating is a multi-million dollar industry that contributes to our robust local economy. This show will certainly provide a financial stimulus to our tourist industry.
The Guy Lombardo Marina is one of the finest recreational marinas on the south shore, providing 252 slips for vessels from 15 to 70 feet. The surrounding community offers residents and tourists many fine restaurants and retail locations in which to dine and shop.
The show will also feature a seafood tent, antique boat displays and educational paraphernalia that will help make the boat show a true family event.
The Town of Hempstead, with Mayor William Glacken of the Village of Freeport and the Freeport Chamber of Commerce, will be working together to ensure that the boat show will be a tremendous success.
I would like to extend an invitation to all of our residents and visitors alike to enjoy this very special event planned for our township. The in-water boat show will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on each of the four days and free parking will be available. Tickets are reasonably priced at just $8 senior citizen tickets are $6 and children 12 and under will be admitted free of charge. I hope to see you there.
