Town Board Holds Ground-Breaking Night Meeting
It was yet another historic event for the Town of Hempstead when the board held its first scheduled night meeting on Tuesday.
Reassessment on Horizon for County
Speaking at a packed news conference at the State Supreme Courthouse in Mineola on Tuesday, Nassau County Assessor Charles O'Shea called for a reassessment of all residential and commercial properties in the county. "It's an unusual day," Mr. O'Shea said in his opening statement. "It's February 29 and I will make the most of it. I will call for a reassessment of Nassau County's 415,000 real estate parcels, the largest assessing jurisdiction in New York State other than New York City."
Karate Kick-A-Thon Benefits Needy At St. Judes Children's Hospital
Students at the Long Island Shotokan Karate Dojo in West Hempstead participated in a kick-a-thon recently and exceeded their goal of raising $5500 for children at St. Judes Children's Hospital. Owners Charles Macolino, Gerard DiCanio and Walter Garcia led and inspired their students in the fundraiser that collected money from their sponsors.
