Dr. Eugene Jennings Jr., 85, formerly of West Hempstead, died on Jan. 15, 2000. Born in the Bronx, he served as a lieutenant in the the US Navy during WWII in the South Pacific aboard the destroyer John W. Weeks. He graduated from Columbia University and Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. Jennings had his medical practice in West Hempstead for 27 years. He was an All-American Masters Swimmer, part of the US Masters Swimming Organization, the highest honor that can be achieved from the organization. He enjoyed sailing and was a member of the St. Petersburg Yacht Club in Florida. He was a staff member at the Barfont Hospital and Edward White Hospital in St. Petersburg. Dr. Jennings is survived by his wife, Miriam; his children, Eugene Thomas, Mimsie Arminstead and Leslie Ann Whitiak; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Arrangements were made by the Anerson-McQueen Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center, St. Petersburg.
Louis J. Bartucci, formerly of West Hempstead, died on Jan. 16, 2000. Husband of Evelyn (nee Montleon). Stanley W. Zindulka, of Elmont, died on Jan. 17, 2000. Husband of Gertrude R. (Ginger, nee Stossel). Father of Stanley T. (Lee) and Susan Gomes. Grandfather of five. Great-grandfather of one. Vincent P. Bauer, of Elmont, died on Jan. 17, 2000. He worked at Belmont Racetrack. He will be especially missed by the Widmer family. Arrangements were made by the O'Brien-Sheipe Funeral Home, Elmont. Mr. Bauer was cremated.

Robert L. Turner, of Elmont, died on Jan. 19, 2000. He was a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus Alfred E.Smith Council, Elmont. Husband of the late Charlotte. Father of Kenneth, Robert Jr., Barbara and Charlene Ryan. Brother of William and Virginia Brown. Grandfather of Kimberly, Kennth Jr., George, Mark and Kevin.
