Charges Filed Against 25 Home Improvement Companies
Nassau County District Attorney Denis Dillon has announced the filing of charges against 25 individuals and home improvements companies for doing business in Nassau County without a license. The criminal charges stem from complaints by consumers regarding shoddy home repairs. If convicted, each could face up to one year in jail and/or a $1,000 fine.

Woman Arrested in Scheme to Defraud Immigrants
Nassau County District Attorney Denis Dillon has announced the arrest of a Hempstead woman for fraudulently taking thousands of dollars from immigrants to assist them in immigration matters. Clover A. Richards, aka Clover A. Richards Jones, 34, has been charged with Scheme to Defraud First Degree, Grand Larceny Third Degree and the Unlawful Practice of Law. It is alleged that Richards fraudulently took over $50,000 from numerous immigrants on the basis that she would file their applications for residency or change of status with the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service. Richards never made such application on their behalf.

Carey Sports Shorts
The Carey boy's and girl's winter track teams participated in the Jim Fraley meet at Farmingdale University. Kevin Mille placed 4th in the 1600 with a time of 4:52. Frank LaRosa placed 5th in the shot put with a toss of 38'11". Tim Dand won the high jump with a leap of 6'0". Melissa Yanek placed second with a personal best in the 1500 walk of 8:03. Yleana Roman won the 55 hurdles in a new school record of 9.4. This lapses the old school record held by Trina Uliano since 1989.
