The 39th Annual District Music Festival sponsored by the Sewanhaka Central High School District will be held at New Hyde Park Memorial High School on Thursday, Feb. 3 at 8 p.m. This much-anticipated event features the most talented young musicians from each of the district's five schools. These students, selected by audition, will perform as members of a district orchestra, band and choir under the direction of three noted guest conductors. The Carey boy's and girl's winter track teams participated in the Jim Fraley meet at Farmingdale University. Kevin Mille placed 4th in the 1600 with a time of 4:52. Frank LaRosa placed 5th in the shot put with a toss of 38'11". Tim Dand won the high jump with a leap of 6'0". Melissa Yanek placed second with a personal best in the 1500 walk of 8:03.
