Noel Haldeman, 77, of Lakeview-West Hempstead, died on Dec. 9, 1999. Born April 27, 1922 in Inwood, she graduated from Lawrence High School and secretarial school. She worked at at consulate on Wall Street for five years. In 1942 she married Bruce M. Haldeman and they moved to Woodmere. They purchased a home in the new "Malverne Oaks" neighborhood in Lakeview in 1946. They divorced in 1958.
Mrs. Haldeman returned to work as a keypunch operator at Doubleday Book Publishing Company in Garden City. She began working in the high school principal's office in the West Hempstead School District in 1966. She retired in 1992. She was active in St. George's Episcopal Church in Hempstead where she was a member of the Senior Choir, Choral Society, St. George's Dragons and was president of the Guild of the Christ Child. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Hewlett, the Ladies Circle, Church of the Good Shepherd, Lakeview, president of the J. Franklin Bell American Legion Auxiliary, member of the PTA, West Hempstead Public Schools, an honorary trustee of the Lakeview and Hempstead Gardens Historical Preservation Society, a founding member of the West Hempstead-Lakeview-Hempstead Gardens Communities Preservation Society, the Malverne Oaks Civic Association, the Malverne Historical and Preservation Society and was a den mother with Cub Scout Pack 269, Lakeview. She was honored in 1998 for her dedicated civic and church service by the Town of Hempstead. She was also a member of the Mineola Choral Society and was president of the West Hempstead Office Staff Association.
Mrs. Haldeman was the daughter of the late Claude and Dorothy M. DeKing. She is survived by her children, Thomas G. Haldeman of Lakewood, CO, James C. of Stony Brook and Bruce T. Haldeman of Lakeview; grandchildren, Kristine Teemer of Lake Ronkonkoma, Siri Atma Khalsa of Los Angeles, Scott John Haldeman of East Meadow and Sarah A. Haldeman of Topeka, KS; great-grandchildren, Robert Teemer and Har Narayan; and daughters-in-law, Sherry A. Haldeman and Ann Upert.
