The Angel of Aspet an inspirational short-story video directed and produced by Tilm Ascender, a resident of Franklin Square, earned honorable mention recognition in The Christophers' Twelfth Annual Video Contest for College Students.
The video was one of just eight of the more than 190 entries that was cited by the contest for its originality, script and camera work. It tells the inspiring story about a Quaker woman who saved Jewish children from the horrors of the Holocaust as told approximately 50 years later through the eyes of one of the surviving children, Richard Weilheimer. Including quality cinematography and enchanting narration, The Angel of Aspet captured the essence of The Christophers' mission, which is to instill the belief that "One Person Can Make Difference."
In addition to earning a cash award for Ascender, The Angel of Aspet will be aired on Christopher Closeup, the weekly nationally syndicated television series produced by The Christophers.
"On behalf of the NYIT community, I congratulate Tilm on his accomplishment," said Professor James Fauvell, director of NYIT's Communication Arts Department. "We encourage our students to participate in programs and activities that will enable them to showcase the skills and knowledge they are gaining at NYIT."
