Brown charges that many of the problems confronting the county are due to "a one party system that has dominated the county for far too long." She stated, "A true bipartisan legislature will foster more oversight into the government of the county so that chronic and massive budget deficits due to irresponsible budget practices will stop."
Brown said other issues that need to be addressed on the county level in the legislature are "working-family issues, day care, senior citizen's concerns, the environment and educational concerns."
Brown was chairperson of the Citizen's Budget Advisory Committee to the West Hempstead Board of Education in 1993. She was president and held other leadership positions in the Parent Teacher Association of West Hempstead between 1982 and 1997. She received a New York State Legislative Resolution of Commendation for her work in area schools and the environment.
Commenting on the New York State League of Conservation Voters endorsement of her candidacy Brown said, "I have always been an activist on environmental issues and am pleased and honored with this important endorsement."
A graduate of St. John's University School of Law 1991, Brown was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1992. In 1993 she began her own law practice, with an office in Elmont.
