Crime Stoppers and the Nassau County Police Department are seeking the public's help in solving the murder of a young woman that occurred in Hempstead in 1989.
On Monday, June 26, 1989 at about 10:35 p.m. the Hempstead Police Department received a call stating that a man and woman had walked behind the electric tower (radio) on Kellum Place near Main Street and had not come out. While the caller was still on the phone with the police the woman began screaming and the caller hung up, The next morning, the body of a light-skinned black female was found at that location. She had been stabbed to death. Police believe that the caller may have more information that is vital to solving this case and are asking him or anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers.
Crime Stoppers is asking the public for its help in solving this crime. All calls to the police's toll-free number, 1-(800) 244-TIPS are anonymous and callers do not have to reveal their identity or testify in court. Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest in this case.
