Alfano Secures Grants Totaling 50,000 To Community
Calling Gateway Youth Outreach an organization that makes a difference in the community, Assemblyman Tom Alfano has announced that he was able to secure a $15,000 grant item in the New York State budget for youth programs. The grant item is earmarked for youth programs in the 22nd Assembly District. As a member of the Assembly leadership, Alfano was able to secure the items through budgetary negotiations.

Welcome to Elmont" Signs Installed
The Elmont Chamber of Commerce and The Elmont Community Coalition Council have announced that the "Welcome To Elmont" Signs Project has proceeded to the point where four of the five signs planned for display around Elmont, have now been installed. The locations of the four installed signs are stated below and acknowledgments to the construction companies who assisted in the project. One more sign is planned for display.

Special Olympics Athletes to Compete at Cantiague Park
Over 500 athletes will assemble at Hicksville's Cantiague Park on Saturday, Sept. 18 for the 1999 New York Special Olympics Fall Classic. New York Special Olympics athletes will be going for the gold in soccer, softball and golf skills and team competitions as well as cross country running in this primer to the State Fall Games in Binghampton on Oct. 1 - 2.
