Lauren Pagan, an Elmont resident, was recently elected to serve as a national delegate to the Girl Scouts of Nassau County, Inc. for a term of three years.

Ms. Pagan is a member of Senior Troop #5594 in the Elmont Association of Girl Scouts and a member of Venturer Crew #294 of the Boy Scouts of America. Ms. Pagan participated in Serendipity in Syracuse, a Wider Opportunity sponsored by the Central New York Girl Scout Council during the summer of 1998. She also represented the council at the 1998 Women's Sports Foundation Dinner in New York City.

A ninth grader at Elmont Memorial High School, Ms. Pagan is active in St. Boniface's Hispanic Youth Group and her high school's Key Club. In the future, she would like to work with children who have disabilities.

"We are pleased that Lauren Pagan will serve as a national delegate," said Patricia B. Motschmann, president of the Girl Scouts of Nassau County Board of Directors. "She will certainly be an asset to our organization."

Girl Scouts is the world's preeminent organization dedicated solely to girls ages 5-17, where girls build character and skills for success in the real world. In partnership with committed adults, girls develop qualities that will serve them all their lives - like strong values, social conscience, and conviction about their own potential and self-worth. In Girl Scouts, girls grow strong in mind, body and spirit.

Girl Scouts of Nassau County serves more than 19,000 girls in 36 Girl Scout Associations (local geographic units) with the support of more than 5,000 adult members. The Girl Scout experience touches 1 in 5 girls in Nassau County.
