The Woman's Club of Franklin Square held its Installation Luncheon on June 14 at Carmela's Restaurant. The food was delicious and the service was great. Eleanor Kaupp was the chairperson and we appreciate all the time and planning that went into this day. Louise Milano, installing officer, presented each officer with a lovely trinket box and good wishes for another successful year. Special thanks to our dedicated members who make the club so special.
We did have a short business meeting and advised the members that our annual Education Memorial Awards were presented, along with checks, to seniors at the following schools: H. Frank Carey, Lauren Hanns; Sewanhaka High School, Tabassum Naz; Washington Street School, Christina Vaccaro; John Street School, Christine Savarese; Polk Street School, Kaitlyn Eymold; and St. Catherine of Sienna School, Patricia Clausen. Congratulations to all!
We were very fortunate to have a guest speaker, Michael Tartaglia, administrator at the Garden Care Center on Franklin Avenue, a nursing facility. His mother, Florence, is a member of our club. He invited us to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony and dedication on June 17. Many members attended and were very impressed with the tour of the building and all the resources which will be available. They will be committed to quality care and for anyone in need of health care assistance they are only a phone call away. This is really a giant plus for our commuity.
