Balboni and DiNapoli Joint Initiative
Recognizing that a law to curb the access of children to graphically violent video games is "only one piece of a complex puzzle", Senator Michael Balboni and Assemblyman Thomas DiNapoli dicussed the intent of a bill they are co-sponsoring during a recent interview. While the exact language of the bill is being developed, the three main objectives are to have an independent rating system as to the violent content of all CD-ROM and video arcade games, to restrict children's access to those games deemed too violent for their age, and to establish a fund for violence awareness and prevention programs for students, teacher and parents.

EMHS Honors All-Conference, All-County, and All-Division Basketball Stars
Coach Gregg Petrocelli has proudly announced that Nassau County has honored three varsity women's basketball players. Senior Hope Johnson received All-County recognition. The team's captain was the Lady Spartans' leading scorer averaging 20 points and 10 rebounds a game. Coach Petrocelli added that Hope was the team's leading all around player. Faith Johnson was the recipient of All-Conference honors. As the team's other captain, she averaged 10 points and 12 rebounds a game. Shaketa McKoy was honored with All-Division recognition for her 8 points and 7 rebounds a game. Petrocelli stated, "Shaketa was the best defender on the team with 4 steals a game."
