Nassau County District Attorney Denis Dillon has announced that a New York City school teacher has admitted selling drugs to an undercover detective assigned to the District Attorney's Squad. The defendant, age 52, pleaded guilty to one count of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree before County Court Judge Frank Gulotta. It was alleged that on three separate occasions, the defendant sold cocaine for between $400 and $500. The sales took place at the Mineola railroad station and across from the Belmont racetrack in Elmont.
Dillon said the defendant was a social studies teacher at PS 99 in Manhattan. He was arrested last September after the third sale of cocaine took place. Some of the sales were videotaped by police. The defendant is expected to receive a sentence of one and one-half to four and one-half years in prison. In addition, he has agreed to resign as a school teacher in New York City. The defense attorney was Brian Davis. The prosecutor was Assistant District Attorney Joseph Dompkowski.
