The West Hempstead Community Scholarship Fund is conducting its membership drive for the 1999 year. The fund was organized 30 years ago to raise funds for deserving students from the West Hempstead and Island Park communities who wish to continue their education. Through the community's generosity, the fund has awarded scholarships totaling $195,000 and has helped 188 students since its inception. In 1998, the Scholarship Fund awarded four scholarships of $2,000 each.

The fund is supported by many community groups, local banks and businesses as well as residents of both the West Hempstead and Island Park communities. All participation in this worthwhile endeavor is invited and appreciated.

Tuition costs continue to escalate and our young people need the support of the community more than ever. Please send your tax-deductible contribution to the West Hempstead Community Scholarship Fund.
